Di Holdsworth is an artist living in the Blue Mountains, Australia. She works in the medium of mechanical assemblage, automated with music-box movements. The layered meaning in her work is underpinned by narratives of myth, fairy tale and pop culture.
Her delicate sculptures recreate our first experiences of clockwork and wind-up objects, with their freaky-fascinating movements, their parody of human mechanics, their unnerving foreshadowing of adult desires and relationships.
