Di Holdsworth is an artist living in the Blue Mountains, Australia. She works primarily in the medium of mechanical assemblage, automated by hand-made mechanics and music-box movements. In her work, she explores themes of myth, fairy tale and popular culture, while juxtaposing notions of danger and desire against innocence, whimsy and wonder.
Her delicate sculptures recreate our first experiences of clockwork and wind-up objects, with their freaky-fascinating movements, their parody of human mechanics, their unnerving foreshadowing of adult desires and relationships.
