Fly Me to The Moon (detail), 2018, kinetic music box assemblage, 13x12x9cm

Di Holdsworth is an artist living in the Blue Mountains, Australia. She works in the medium of mechanical assemblage, automated by hand-made mechanics and music-box movements. The layered meaning in her work is underpinned by narratives of myth, fairy tale and popular culture.

Her delicate sculptures recreate our first experiences of clockwork and wind-up objects, with their freaky-fascinating movements, their parody of human mechanics, their unnerving foreshadowing of adult desires and relationships.                                                                   Peter Doyle, The Golden Age Exhibition Catalogue, Hawkesbury Regional Gallery
