Fly Me to The Moon (detail), 2018, kinetic music box assemblage, 13x12x9cm

Di Holdsworth is an artist living in the Blue Mountains, Australia. Her current works are in the medium of kinetic assemblage and are automated by hand-made mechanics and music-box movements. She explores narratives of mythology, fairy-tale, pop culture and history to develop themes of desire, innocence, darkness and wonder.

Her delicate sculptures recreate our first experiences of clockwork and wind-up objects, with their freaky-fascinating movements, their parody of human mechanics, their unnerving foreshadowing of adult desires and relationships.                                                                 Peter Doyle, The Golden Age Exhibition Catalogue, Hawkesbury Regional Gallery
