Di Holdsworth is an artist living in the Blue Mountains, Australia. She explores themes of myth, fairy tale and popular culture in her work while juxtaposing notions of danger and desire against innocence, whimsy and wonder. She works primarily in the medium of mechanical assemblage automated by hand-made mechanics and music-box movements.
Her delicate sculptures recreate our first experiences of clockwork and wind-up objects, with their freaky-fascinating movements, their parody of human mechanics, their unnerving foreshadowing of adult desires and relationships. Peter Doyle, author of City of Shadows and The Big Whatever.
